Steve Jobs, CEO of the ever popular Apple, seems to be filled with confidence as his company heads in to the future. In fact, Jobs is so excited about Apple’s success, that even HE couldn’t keep a completely secretive attitude during a recent shareholder’s meeting. During the meeting, Jobs revealed a few directions in which Apple may be headed. While nothing in terms of specific products was revealed, Jobs’ comments will get any reader quite a bit hyped towards the future.

Since Windows and Mac OS’ are competing so intensely, it makes sense that one of the shareholders brought up the question of an Apple “ultimate media center”. Similar to Windows Media Center Edition, the shareholder wanted an Apple OS that could perform functions like record TV, share media, and of course a sparkle of that Apple magic. “We hear you loud and clear” was Jobs’ only reply. Could Apple be working on a serious answer to Windows Media Center Edition? Another question that was brought up was that of Apple’s environmental policies. A former president of the Sierra Club accused the company of not doing enough to help protect the environment. After answering that Apple is among the top 10 most environmentally friendly companies listed by the Club, he suggested targeting environmentally hazardous CRT monitors.

Since the only CRT product that Apple has is the eMac, Jobs commented that “We could be sitting here next year with none.” Perhaps the end of the eMac and CRT technology from Apple has come. Jobs was also quoted in saying “The new products in the pipeline are the best I’ve ever seen in my life”. Whatever Jobs has under his sleeve, it sure sounds awesome. A Mac Media Center honestly has the potential to blow away even the mighty WMCE. As for CRT monitors, it’s time for them to go anyway. My prediction is that they’ll be gone in even less than a year.
